- Reset your Garmin GPS device
No matter what Garmin problems you are facing, if you aren’t sure of the specific reason why you are facing Garmin GPS not working issue, then one of the first things that you should do is to reset your device. This solution especially works for unresponsive, frozen, or slow Garmin GPS.
When you reset your Garmin device, all its running programs are terminated, and the device gets a break. This helps in making Garmin GPS work smoothly again. There are two types of resets that you can perform. One is a hard reset and the other is a soft reset. First, try doing a soft reset, and if that doesn’t work then go for a hard reset. A hard reset also deletes customizations, saved data, saved preferences, and other custom settings that you had set. However, it doesn’t delete downloaded maps and updates.
Steps for soft reset:
Locate the power button of your device and long press it to turn it off.
ii. Keep pressing the power button and release it once your device restarts.
iii. When the device restarts, the Garmin logo will be displayed first, and then the device will start functioning normally.
Steps for hard reset:
It is the same as soft reset with an additional step of unplugging your Garmin device from any hardware that you have connected it with, including the power cable.
